The briefest of excursions; the most furtive of ventures. Tremulous, aged wizard Erebos the Yellow and the bombastic priest, Garviel of House Ibis venture through the door into dream, there to encounter the morose Guildless and their mirthful foes, the White Swine.
Erebos and Garviel are joined by Rhea the Thief, who grew up on the streets, and Caenn the Mage, the educated son of prosperous wine merchants. Less furtive; they fight the White Swine in their lair, obtain some valuables, and learn of the strange and terrible laws of Zyan. They have their first reminder of their own of mortality at the hands of the White Swine; Garviel suffers a broken arm.
Aeris, Knight of No House, whose origins are shrouded in mystery, joins Garviel & Rhea. Confidence builds; they venture into the grotesque and decaying theater of punishments, behold the effigy of Afatis and two of her cruel puppets, fight dancing shadows, and learn about the vicious justice of the Crooked Law. Aeris tells tales to the Guildless, and memories of a former life, and an armourer's craft, arise from the mists of clouded memory.
We were just starting to figure things out here, simple characters, straightforward dungeon crawling, running a minimally modified version of The Black Hack, playing with whoever showed up out of the 30 players I invited. We didn’t have the full first year party together until Session 5. We weren’t even keeping notes until Session 3, so these entries are necessarily sparse.
